*Myrtle Beach, SC* – The Augusta GreenJackets (Atlanta Braves) picked up a Friday night victory against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Chicago Cubs) courtesy of a pair of home runs. Augusta (18-18) fell behind in the first but scored eight unanswered runs while limiting the Pelicans (17-19) to three hits on the day.

Owen Murphy, the #2 overall prospect in the Braves organization, got the start for Augusta. After surrendering a home run to the first man he faced, Murphy was immaculate, going five full innings of work while striking out five. Murphy picked up his first career professional win in the effort.

In the top of the third inning, down 1-0 and facing former Major Leaguer Jordan Holloway on a rehab assignment, Jeremy Celedonio singled up the middle to score Ethan Workinger to tie the game at one. In the fourth, the GreenJackets took the lead after Dawson Dimon singled home * E.J. Exposito*, before Tyler Collins scored on an error two batters later.

The scoring wouldn’t stop there, though, as Celedonio hit his team-leading sixth home run of the season in the top of the fifth with two runners aboard to put Augusta up 6-1. In the sixth, Workinger joined the home run party with a solo blast that cleared the bleachers in left to make it 7-1.

Jared Johnson entered in the bottom of the sixth in relief of Murphy and was perfect in his three innings, striking out five and not allowing a hit. In the top of the ninth, going against a position player on the mound, Collins picked up an RBI to extend the lead to 8-1. Elison Joseph entered in the bottom of the ninth to close the door. The three hits allowed by the GreenJackets matches the lowest allowed by the team in a single game this season.

The GreenJackets are on the road this week for three more games against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Chicago Cubs). The GreenJackets return to SRP Park for six games against the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (Chicago White Sox) beginning Tuesday, May 23rd!
