BELOIT– There was no late-inning magic for the Beloit Sky Carp Saturday night against Quad Cities.
The Sky Carp, who had rallied from deficits in each of the past two nights, couldn’t muster enough offense to keep up with the River Bandits, who finished with a 7-2 victory at ABC Supply Stadium.
Beloit finished the game with just four hits, all of them singles, against a trio of River Bandits hurlers.
Quad Cities plated two runs in the second, two more in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead. Beloit scored its only two runs in the seventh, when Josh Zamora was hit by a pitch to force in a run and Osiris Johnson drew a walk to force in another.
Karson Milbrandt allowed five runs (three earned) in 4 2-3 innings of work. Tyler Eckberg threw two scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Beloit.
The Sky Carp and River Bandits will wrap up their six-game series with a Sunday matinee. It’s Sunday Family Funday at the Stadium, with kids 12 and under running the bases after the game, and families playing catch in the outfield after the base run! Time of the first pitch is 1:05, with the gates opening at noon.
