Dayton, Ohio—Four Lansing pitchers combined to scatter seven hits as the Lugnuts defeated the Dayton Dragons 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Lugnuts won four-of-six games in the six-game series.

A crowd of 7,913 was in attendance at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District.

The Dragons remained three and one-half games behind first place West Michigan in the Midwest League East Division standings. There are 12 games to play in the second half season.

Lansing took the lead on Sunday with two runs in the top of the first inning against Dayton starter Carson Rudd (4-7). A two-run double by Colby Thomas was the big hit.

The Dragons had good chances to score in the fourth and fifth innings but they could not deliver the big hit. In the fourth, they loaded the bases with one out on an error followed by singles by Justice Thompson and Mat Nelson. But Trey Faltine struck out and Edwin Arroyo flied out to center to end the inning. In the fifth, Carlos Jorge opened the inning with a single and raced around to third on a base hit by Cade Hunter, but Jack Rogers struck out, Ruben Ibarra popped out to shortstop, and Austin Hendrick popped out foul to third base to end the inning.

The Dragons did not have another base runner until the ninth. By that time, Lansing had extended their lead to 4-0, scoring two in the sixth.

Justice Thompson led the Dragons with two hits. On the mound, reliever Zach Maxwell had an impressive outing, working two scoreless without allowing a hit with four strikeouts.
