Books & Baseball Reading Program

The Fredericksburg Nationals want to team up with local schools to help promote reading through Books & Baseball. It's an easy, three-step program that rewards its participants with a FREE ticket to a FredNats baseball game and on-field recognition before the game.

Schools have the option to select a gym/cafeteria rally for large groups, in-class book reading for individual classes or a video presentation to show without an in-person visit. Space is limited in the program and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Bookmark Design Contest

The Fredericksburg Nationals are challenging students to come up with their best design for the Books & Baseball Reading Program bookmarks! FredNats staff members will decide the winner, with the winner receiving a prize pack PLUS their design featured on more than 20,000 bookmarks distributed throughout the region.

Submissions must be received by Friday, December 9th at 5pm. Please remember to stay inside the box as we cannot accept any submissions that go outside of it. All designs should stay within the baseball/Fredericksburg Nationals theme.

Round the Bases

Here's how the program works:

First Base

Gus and representatives from the FredNats front office will visit your school! All students who participate will receive an official Books & Baseball Reading Program Bookmark.

Second Base

Students will be asked to read four books and complete the back of the bookmark. They can then bring their completed bookmark to the FredNats Box Office at least 48 hours in advance of their designated game date to exchange it for one FREE standing room only ticket to the game.

Third Base

Students should plan to arrive early on the date of the game to take part in a Reading Parade on the field with their classmates.

Home Plate

Have fun and enjoy the game!
