BlueClaws Fall 3-2 Friday to Hudson Valley, Ending Season

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Hudson Valley topped the BlueClaws 3-2 on Friday night, ending a magical BlueClaws summer in the SAL Northern Division Championship Series. The Renegades advance to the finals, where they will play Greenville beginning on Sunday.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Hudson Valley topped the BlueClaws 3-2 on Friday night, ending a magical BlueClaws summer in the SAL Northern Division Championship Series. The Renegades advance to the finals, where they will play Greenville beginning on Sunday.

Jersey Shore had their best chance in the bottom of the 8th inning. Trailing 3-2, they had the bases loaded with one out. Geoffrey Gilbert, making his High-A debut, struck out Leandro Pineda and Anthony Quirion to end the inning. He then threw a 1-2-3 ninth inning to end the game.

BlueClaws reliever Jack Dallas threw three perfect innings to keep it a 3-2 game. Jason Ruffcorn threw a scoreless eighth, but Jersey Shore fell one hit short.

Brock Selvidge earned the win, allowing two runs over 6.2 innings as the Renegades starter.

Each team scored in the first inning. The BlueClaws took the lead on an RBI single from Felix Reyes and Hudson Valley answered when Ben Cowles came home on a wild pitch to tie the game.

Cowles came through with a two out single in the second to put the Renegades up 2-1. They added another run in the bottom of the fourth on a SAC fly by Alexander Vargas - including a great diving grab by Jared Carr. Konnor Ash came on for Marcano and after two walks, got a double play with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Jersey Shore got one back in the sixth. Felix Reyes tripled with two outs and scored on an RBI single by Leandro Pineda to cut the lead to 3-2.

Reyes finished with three hits and an intentional walk.

Marcano was charged with three runs in 3.1 innings, walking three and striking out three.

Opening Night at the Jersey Shore is April 5th against Aberdeen.
