(Las Vegas, NV) – June 27, 2022 – The Las Vegas Aviators® professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, today announced that catcher Austin Allen was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week (June 20-26). Allen is the third Las Vegas

(Las Vegas, NV) – June 27, 2022 – The Las Vegas Aviators® professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, today announced that catcher Austin Allen was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week (June 20-26).

Allen is the third Las Vegas player this season to be named PCL Player of the Week. He joins infielder Sheldon Neuse (June 13-19) and infielder Matt Davidson (May 30 – June 5). It also marks the second time that Allen has been named Triple-A Player of the Week in his career. He earned Triple-A West Player of the Week honors from August 2-8, 2021.

Allen appeared in four games against Albuquerque and batted .600 (9-for-15) with three doubles, two home runs and 7 RBI. He was instrumental in Las Vegas’ come-from-behind victory last night against the Isotopes with a 3-for-4, two doubles, RBI, run scored performance. The Aviators, trailing 8-0, scored four runs in the fifth inning and five runs in the eighth for the 9-8 victory. It marked the largest comeback deficit since June 20, 2019 against Sacramento (L.V. trailed by nine runs, 10-1 and won 11-10 at Las Vegas Ballpark®). Allen was also 2-for-3, walk, solo home run, two runs scored on June 21 and 3-for-4, HR, 4 RBI, two runs scored on June 22.

On the season, Allen has appeared in 23 games and is batting .321 (26-for-81) with eight doubles, three home runs and 18 RBI. He has recorded six multiple-hit games and has hit safely in 15 of 23 games.

The Aviators, 41-30/1st place in West Division, will open a home-and-home six-game series against the Round Rock Express, Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, beginning in Texas on Tuesday, June 28. The three-game series will conclude on Thursday, June 30. The two teams will then resume the series in Las Vegas with three games from Friday-Sunday, July 1-3 at Las Vegas Ballpark.
