Selected in the 8th round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins out of George Ranch High School in Richmond, Texas... signed with the Marlins on June 7, 2014 and received a $162,400 bonus... was clocked at 6.47 in the 60-yard dash by Perfect Game at their showcase event at Petco Park in 2013... hit .398 with seven homers, 43 hits, 32 RBIs and 31 runs scored in 40 games at George Ranch in 2014... committed to Rice but instead signed with Miami.

Voted an All-Star in 2015 with Batavia... was named an MiLB.com and Baseball America All-Star in 2015... became a free agent in November 2020 and signed with Arizona ahead of Spring Training in 2021... Garrett got a second chance with Arizona after receiving a message on LinkedIn from Dan Budreika, his former video coordinator during his time with Miami in the Gulf Coast League -- Budreika, who was part of the Cleveland organization in March 2021, "put in a good word" for Garrett with a friend with the D-backs, who then offered Garrett a contract two days later... at the time, Garrett had been pursuing a secondary career in real estate during the Covid-19 pandemic, taking classes through the Aceable Real Estate School and then selling homes in 2020 as the Minor League season was cancelled by Covid-19... he became a licensed real estate agent in his hometown of Sugar Land, Texas on Nov. 23, 2019 and joined eXp Realty.

With Arizona, Garrett was voted a Texas League All-Star in 2021 with Amarillo... ended the 2021 season at Triple-A and returned there for 2022, where he was leading all Triple-A players in home runs through Aug. 9... was named Arizona's Minor League Player of the Month for April 2022... was named the Pacific Coast League's Player of the Month in April 2022 after leading the league in total bases (55), doubles (8), slugging percentage (.724) and OPS (1.141).
