Canzone’s Bat Keeps Producing When his Number is Called

Reno, Nev. – Dominic Canzone may have started his 2022 season at Double-A Amarillo. Still, over the next six months, he developed and fine-tuned his skills on the field, which put him in a position to hit one of the most dramatic home runs in Reno Aces history during the Triple-A National Championship Game against the Durham Bulls. While the outcome in that game did not go Reno’s way, Canzone continues to perform at the plate and has become one of the D-backs’ potent bats in the system.

Splitting time between first base and the outfield, Arizona’s No. 17 Top Prospect by MLB Pipeline played much of the season with the Aces and was a key source of power in Reno’s lineup. One of Canzone’s best weeks as a member of the Reno Aces was at the end of September when he was named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week on September 26. He produced a monster series against the in-state rivals, Las Vegas Aviators. In five games, he hit .400 (8-for-20) with five extra-base hits (four home runs), nine RBI, and seven runs. During the series against the Silver-State rivals, he produced a .478 OBP and 1.050 SLG.

With his signature high leg kick, the left-handed slugger had another stellar season within the D-backs system as he ranked within the organization’s Top 10 organization in several offensive categories. He was fourth in slugging (.541), home runs (22), RBI (89), fifth in OPS (.908); sixth in extra-base hits (49), total bases (213) and runs (81); seventh in hits (118), eighth in doubles (25).

Reno fans will likely get the chance to enjoy the 25-year-old again in an Aces uniform as he hits mammoth home runs over the outfield wall at Greater Nevada Field. At the same time, the Cleveland native looks to continue to push his way toward making his big-league debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks next season.

The Reno Aces are slated to open the 2023 season at Greater Nevada Field on Friday, March 31st, against the Las Vegas Aviators, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. Season Memberships are available via RenoAces.com, texting “MEMBER” to 21003, or calling 775-334-7000.
